Our 3-4 year-olds from Naerev Kuu, chose to plant sunflower seeds from our seed exchange program. The seeds got planted 07.05.2026. Children filled the pots with soil outside and placed the seeds in the soil. The pots got brought indoors where children checked daily that the soil would be moist.
First sprouts were out 5 days later – 12.05.2026.
Today, 18.05.2026 we noticed that the plants had grown a lot over the weekend and replanted them into bigger pots.
Children love taking care of the plants and getting the hands on experience. Now we just have to wait a little longer until the plants get stronger and nights warmer, then we get to plant them outside.
We are also growing cucumbers in our classroom. The seeds got planted 17.03.2026 and now we have plants that have cucumbers on them.
